At the end of our streets is sunrise;

At the end of our streets are spars;
At the end of our streets is sunset;
At the end of our streets the stars.

Ever the winds of morning
Are cool from the flashing sea--
Flowing swift from our ocean,
Till the fog-dunes crumble and flee.

Slender spars in the offing,
Mast and yard in the slips--
How they tell on the azure
Of the sea-contending ships!

Homeward into the sunset
Sill unwearied we go,
Till the northern hills are misty
With the amber of afterglow.

Stars that sink to our ocean,
Winds that visit our strand,
The heavens are your pathway,
Where is a gladder land!

At the end of our streets is sunrise;
At the end of our streets are spars;
At the end of our streets is sunset;
At the end of our streets the stars.

how I long to live
in a city by the sea

I sleep each night,
occasionally dreaming of a sea I've yet to see
and an angel I have yet to know.

I have always been drawn to water, even to a fatal extent, but never have I missed it so much as I do now. I seriously thought by now I would be living in a city with a huge harbor, boats, ferries, and an ocean in its center. There are many cities like what I just described, all over the world; however I am stuck in one of the most bare and dead cities in this hemisphere. I was watching a movie the other night, when I saw a wonderful scene; the shot was high above Lake Michigan, zooming in on the lights of Chicago during the evening hours. It was brief, but has been what prompted me into creating this page. This realization is beginning to eat away at me, and the feeling is drying me out inside...

According to every culture that has an astrological based zodiac, I fall into the designated water symbol. And within these zodiacs, there are animals, planets, and gods assigned to the protection and creation of water. Even religion acknowledges the importance of water, its’ power to kill, save, reshape the world, and every religion has assigned some deity to watch over water and it uses. Scientist tell us that every living thing is made mostly of water, and requires much more to continue surviving. Knowing all this, isn’t it obvious that I am completely infatuated with water?

Well honestly, I should be terrified of water. When I was younger, around the age of eight, I drowned. I don’t mean I just choked on some water, my lungs were filled with liquid and I sunk to the bottom of the lake. I wasn’t breathing for over three minutes, yet the first thing I wanted to do when I recovered was go swimming.

I have been asked countless times what the point of this site is, and I would never really tell them truth. The point of this was to encourage myself, to see how many cities I could actually go to fitting the description of my dream. It was to get me out, make me happy, and show people what I found along the way.

Everyone has something in their life that they connect with, technology, music, athletics; they are all loved by people, and make up our day to day lives. I just want my life to be surrounded by water, I just want a home in a city by the sea.
