High Maintenance
One of the funniest things I hear on the radio and on MTV are rappers calling themselves "high maintenance" and "high class". That is the ultimate display...scratch that...the epitome of ignorance, lack of education, and stupidity. These rappers are associating expensive name brands like Versace and Armani with being high class and important. Any moron off the street can buy Versace, ride in a limo, drink Cristale and wear "begets" (whatever the hell that is); it doesn't make your status as a human being. Stupid, classless people have money, too. I don't like rap. I've never liked rap. This isn't a slight against rap artists. But in the last decade there's been an influx of rappers who feel the need to boast about what kind of cars they drive, what kind of clothes they wear, what kind of jewelry they own, and how big their wallet is. Lyrics like "I'm a 8 figure-nigga" and "My Moschino ho, my Versace hachi." Do I care how much money they make? Is that supposed to make the poor, young black kids feel good about themselves? So they, too, can someday become a crappy rap star, and write lame, narcissistic lyrics and "sample" old songs? Aren't the black kids living in the financially depressed neighborhoods a big part of the audience these rap artists are trying to "keep it real" with? Talk about your bad role models! I'll tell you what. Everything I said about Mr. Gates in the past...he pales in the comparison to the money-hungry, name brand obsessed narcissism going on in the rap world.
