The Best Defense

I can’t believe I am about to do this, some might even think that I am defending my country in this, but I tried to warn you. Many, many people have been asking me why are we bombing Afghanistan, some even telling ME to stop, (because I am personally doing it, shhh, don’t tell anyone) but how else do they expect we go about stopping the imminent future attacks? Amidst a country that is 75% illiterate, how do you tell them that you don’t want to fight? In a country that was already in a 3-way civil war, how do you convince them to stop fighting? In a place where the ruling power took control by killing innocents, how do you negotiate? The people of Afghanistan are told that all of the evil in the world is because of Britain, America, and all countries empowered by the two; and that the people living there are poor bystanders of their governments. I know that everything told to me isn’t true, but I don’t think I am being lied to about everything I hear. Granted, I know that Bush is taking the “teacher, he started it” approach to this so-called war, but how far should we let it go before we do something? Should we wait until all English speaking countries are third world countries? It isn’t as impossible as it sounds. Yet still, this is in no way a defense to the actions of America, because I don’t agree with a lot of the actions we have committed so far, but I do agree with the logic behind it, because if you want peace, you must prepare for war.
