Can you shoot me now?

How many of you have seen the cell phone commercial with the ferret in it? You know, the one where some guy is sitting on a couch, and he sticks his tongue out at a ferret, only to have the ferret jump and sink his teeth into the man's tongue. I hate commercials like that, ones that don't explain the back story; the conflict between man and ferret, and why it had to result to such violence. But the worst is when the poor fool, with ferret firmly attached runs screaming outside. Does anyone try to help? No, instead we get that stupid slogan, “Can you hear me now?” If I haven’t told you by now, I am not a huge fan of Verizon’s newest catch phrase. I mean, do you know how many times I hear that in the course of a single day, it is quickly replacing ‘hello’ as the most said phrase over the phone. Speaking of things I have heard recently, do any of you remember those ‘Bod’ styling products for men? If not, let me refresh your memory, an all shirtless male band is giving a concert to a large group of women, and apparently based on said product, every woman in the audience must have these men. Well, so believable was this product, that I saw a teenage boy crying in K-Mart because his father wouldn’t let him buy it. And as if the young lad had not lost enough dignity in front of his fellow shoppers, he proceeded to explain exactly why he so desperately “NEEDED” the product. It's sad, the current state of commercial. (and the gullibility of the people watching) Not so much for the lack of story line, but the complete absence of an actual commercial. Lately I find myself no longer able to tell if a commercial is trying to sell me jeans, cars, or French dictionaries. Instead of actually selling these French dictionaries, there is the new trend of subtitling commercials; so far they have all proved to be hilarious (yes even the Virgin Mobile commercials) but how long can you make fun of a chicken in French before it loses it’s appeal? About as long as I can put up with ‘The Colonel’ break dancing I suppose.
