Censory Deprivation
Well, stemming from a previous rant, with confused thoughts of Bandai, a new rants is brought forth....a rant on American Censorship. America has become too fragile. Our leaders believe that the violence produced in America is being conceived in our music, television, and other entertainment. That's kind of funny, I always thought it was their lack of punishment for this violence. Oh well. So, instead of speaking the truth, and maybe saying something that a single mother in Iowa might find offensive, everything broadcast must be PC (politically correct) and non-violent. When did conglomerate companies become so scared of this one person that they would completely change their image and go against their original goals? It happened when the Government started allowing everyone to sue each other for anything. If you have the money and the time, you can sue Disney for saying the word batteries in a movie because you found it to be offensive. When did these laws of protection turn into laws of greed? Personally, I thought the whole censorship idea would die out with the V-chip and TV rating system, but now people are pushing for a law that would divide channels into separate rating systems. That means Fox would have to divide itself into 3 or more channels and share air time with other networks. So, next Sunday I might have to set the VCR to record 3 channels just to get the X-Files, The Simpsons, and Malcolm in the Middle. Is all lost? Will censorship over run this nation? I had almost given up, until I noticed a small trend in a show I commonly watch. Now, I know most of my loyal readers are teenagers, and other late alphabet generations. And I also know that most of you watch a small show called Gundam W. Well, in recent weeks I have noticed that at nighttime the script slightly changes from that of the afternoon showing. (Yes, my life is so dull that I actually watch it twice a day from time to time) I.E. One episode was named, "Duo, the Great Destroyer Once Again" in the afternoon, but "Duo, The God Of Death Once Again" at night. A very slight deference, but a censorship matter nonetheless. Another example is in a recent episode about Epyon, Treize says to Heero, "It is the closest thing to perfection," and Heero replies, "I don't believe in that." Later that night, Treize says, "Perhaps its the closest thing to God," and Heero replies, "I don't believe in God." Amazing?! And I have noticed more! Am I dreaming this, is Bandai really making snap precision changes to rebel against censorship? I am not sure. I can't help but notice that both of these defiences revolve around religion. Now, there is a topic. So, can it be that giant corporations are trying to make a silent stand? Are some Americans so feed up about censorship that they are going to push the boundaries of our current freedoms, and remind us of the lost rights promised to us? I hope so. The right of speech, religion, arms, etc. A change is coming; riots in the US are putting environmentalist and unionist together for the first time ever. C-Span broadcast a protest planning for a march on Washington DC five times. Never has anyone broadcast a program to help organize protesters and anarchist. Conglomerates are feed up, I am feed up, and the only thing lefts is to come together! (Right now, over me....)
