Shinto (Day Dreams)
golden slippers
and suspicious hair
two toned kois
and my blank stare
I'll remember everything from that time
as I try to pen it all within this rhyme
I can't believe I left you there
and even though we had to go
its hard to find the words to say
how leaving you has left me low
like tears falling from an ocean in the sky
building sand castles against the tide
the waves could never fill the void you left inside
God knows how much it hurts, and still I don't know why
logic and all my good sense
long ago tore apart
but this is what often happens
in matters of the heart
I want to remember everything that happened that day
and speak aloud everything I didn't say
I wonder if it is as difficult
for me as it was for you
thinking back and knowing all
the things we could not do
like tears falling from an ocean in the sky
sand castles buried deep beneath the tide
ever since I left, I've felt hollow inside
I want to give that second chance another try
