Angel of Chance (A Poem)

I found a page one day
slightly dirty but still white
and on this page I wondered
what that I should write

the page became a story
about a little girl
grown up now and on her own
in this great big world

the story became an illustration
after erasing what was there
and with a little imagination
I captured the beauty that she shares

and then that picture became a song
fit for a chorus of angels to sing
but if they knew who it was about
they would freely give up their wings

but now that song has become a poem
one I took too long to write
thank you for being a friend to me
and all those wonderful nights
