The Angel with Six Wings (Illusions)

the wind blows about the trees
sending whispers through the air
and illusions of you fill my mind
illusions of you there

illusions of your sweet breath
breaking apart the night
and the bitterness of my regret
spawning the apologies I recite

please forgive my procrastination
I was always bad at this
please hear out my explanation
for all the chances missed

I know that you don’t hate me
yet I know we aren’t the same
I left my heart in Tennessee
and have been trying to dodge the blame

Take me home
