Contemplicity.com

Contemplicity.com was first registered in February 2002. Previous incarnations of this site were hosted on Angelfire.com from 1996 until 1998, and (the now extinct) Geocities.com from 1998 until 2002.

The original site started out as an online photo album. Over time it grew to include a blog, poetry, short stories, drawings, paintings, rants, essays, and much more. Eventually the site became too massive for me to maintain. Different sections of the site each took on their own unique looks, as well as their own coding problems.

Overtime I opted to use the free automated services such as LiveJournal, Deviantart, Flickr, and Facebook to replace my need for a personal domain. While easier to maintain, this option began to create another problem. It was too difficult for friends and family to keep up with what I was doing online. Because of that I took down the site on May 16th, 2009.  I promised to bring it back with up to date information and an entirely new look in the future. Then on September 1st, 2009 I re-launched a new stripped-down version of Contemplicity.com.

After deciding to start over with the site, I redesigned the look and content from scratch. As such, much of the information formerly hosted here is no longer available. I do plan on bringing back certain sections from past incarnations of the site; however, I have not decided when or what I will be posting. If there is something from the old site which you would like to see brought to the new site, please leave a comment requesting it.

Contemplicity.com currently runs on the WordPress publishing platform and is hosted by Site5.

The Webmaster.

Contemplicity.com is populated and maintained by me, Jöshua Arron Barnett.

I am a technophile who has been blessed with an abundance of strange luck, a sharp mind, and amazing friends.  I am a Cancer/Boar, a photographer, a webmaster, a writer, a technology enthusiast, a gamer, and a dog lover with a passion for languages, the arts, and adventure!

When I was younger I was fascinated by the internet, digital technology, and cyber culture. These interests drove me to learn more about computers and cyber culture. As time went on I accidentally formed a career out of these interests. I have provided technical support for small companies, colleges, medium sized utilities, software companies and international ISPs. Around this time I was also maintaining file transfer sites, online file storage, and multiple websites (including Contemplicity.com) from a few servers in my house.

I have grown out of that phase. My interest are more diverse these days. I am most passionate about photography, writing, music, and physics/astronomy.  I am also a huge fan of dinosaurs, language, religion, ancient mythology, and philosophy. I enjoy learning and am usually reading up on some topic (be it online, in a book, or periodical).

I enjoy traveling more than almost anything else. I take great pleasure in experiencing different cultures, learning new ways of doing things, and trying new foods when I travel. I believe the world would be a better place if we took the time to learn from our differences and to share as much of our histories and cultures as possible. My dream job would be traveling the world and sharing my experiences with others through photography, film and/or writing.
