    Mexico City 2016

    Mexico City 2016

Ever since I was young, I’m talking fourth grade, I’ve been fascinated with the pyramids outside Mexico City. My class at whatever school I was at that year had to do a report on an ancient culture. I drew Aztec from the lottery of choices, a culture that at the time I knew nothing about more than the name. After breaking into some encyclopedias at the local library (because I was young and the internet wasn’t too common at the time), I discovered a fascinating culture of power, honor and mythology. More fascinating still, is the history they inherited from […]

    Pokemon: Resurgence of my childhood.

    Pokemon: Resurgence of my childhood.

Pokemon Go was released this week and three fourths of the people I see outside are playing this game. Hordes of people are walking, running and gathering in the park near my house… all to catch Pokemon. I’m not going to lie, I’m playing it too. This game ushers my mind back to a time and a place when I was in the eight grade. I remember seeing the first trailer several months back and thought the game would be popular in the gamer/otaku space, but I had no idea it would be this big. In downtown San Mateo right […]

    Insights from last year.

    Insights from last year.

The below was written in February 2015 by Anna, and never sent to me until last night. It is even more poignant now, almost a year and a half later.  This came up after three atraight weeks of me working 12 to 18 hour days without a break. I guess the question is, what do I do about it?  “02/05/2015 Adjustments I just don’t want you to be Mike. I know you say you aren’t, but isn’t his story the story of a man who stayed loyal to a company despite being grossly overworked while being extremely underpaid for said […]

    New and yet the same.

    New and yet the same.

I’m sitting in the Japanese Gardens in downtown San Mateo. I snuck in a coffee and am enjoying the stillness. It is odd, I have less time than ever, but I’m still finding time to write little things here and there. Just scribbles really, and none of them here. I don’t count this as a legitimate update even, but I’m trying. I’m trying to talk to Jacqueline again. (Not doing exceedingly well, but I’m trying. Same goes for my father. Woke up early this morning and while pouring myself into the internet to avoid working I found things I loved […]

1.3 billion people live without access to power, but we can help!

1.3 billion people live without access to power, but we can help!

I’m fundraising for the GivePower Foundation. The money raised by this event will go toward providing solar powered lighting to schools in impoverished communities around the world. By helping to bring electricity to schools that lack access to electricity, we can help empower people’s lives. With your donation we hope to bring light to remote villages in Mali, Nicaragua, Kenya, Haiti, Uganda, Nigeria, Malawi, Nepal, and Ghana. Watch this quick video about GP’s work. I have worked for SolarCity for over two years, and I am proud of many things this company has done. The GivePower Foundation tops the list […]
